Yelena Popova works with a broad variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, video and installation. Her work reflects her upbringing in the Ural Mountains of Russia, trying to capture the continuous industrial landscape of contemporary capitalism and her own rootedness in the long history of Russian abstraction. Her drawings reflect on the legacy of Russian constructivism and geometric abstraction, exploring the formal qualities of line, space and volume to hypnotic effect.
